WHAT WE DO:
Recreation therapists are professionals who use recreational and leisure activities as therapeutic interventions to enhance the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being of individuals facing various disabilities or mental health challenges. Recreation therapists assess clients' needs, strengths, and preferences to design personalized therapeutic programs. Activities may include sports, arts and crafts, music, dance, games, outdoor adventures, and other recreational pursuits tailored to meet specific therapeutic goals. The ultimate aim is to improve clients' overall quality of life, promote independence, enhance social skills, and contribute to their physical and mental health.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Once a Recreational Therapist is selected, an evaluation will be conducted in collaboration with the client or their natural supports to identify the specific needs of the individual. Subsequently, a comprehensive treatment plan will be developed, outlining specific goals and the corresponding steps necessary to achieve them, ensuring the successful implementation of the plan.
